In Loving Memory of José Luis Garcia ("Luis," "Dad")

José Luis Garcia, passed away at the age of 61, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Luis was the kind of person who could make anyone feel like family. He was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy in life came from caring for others. He worked hard, loved deeply, and gave selflessly, never asking for much in return except perhaps a good joke, a cheeseburger from McDonald's, or a trip to Peter Piper Pizza to celebrate another birthday.

Luis had a curious mind and a lifelong love of learning. Whether he was reading the news, watching old westerns, tuning into the History Channel, or falling down a rabbit hole of random trivia facts, he was always eager to learn something new and share it with whoever happened to be nearby. If you spent enough time with him, chances are you left knowing an obscure historical fact you never knew you needed. He was a man of simple pleasures and unforgettable quirks. He loved old music videos, became a surprisingly enthusiastic DoorDash customer later in life, and had a talent for giving people nicknames that somehow stuck forever. 

Luis also loved spending time and going on new adventures with his longtime best friend Veronica, Luis could always count on Veronica to expand his horizons and loved new experiences. His sense of humor was one of his greatest gifts. From classic dad jokes that madeeveryone groan to the occasional inappropriate joke that made everyone laugh harder than they should have, Luis could always be counted on to lighten the mood and bring a smile to someone's face. 

Above all else, Luis was a dedicated father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world. He taught those he loved not only through his words but through his actions. He believed in treating people with kindness, offering grace instead of retribution, and meeting the world with compassion whenever possible. His example showed that strength is found in kindness and that a good heart is one of life's greatest accomplishments.

Luis is survived by his son, Luisito; his daughters, Connie and Clarissa; his ten beloved grandchildren; his two brothers; his two sisters; and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him. 

While his passing leaves an immeasurable void, there is comfort in imagining the joyful reunion that awaited him. He was welcomed with open arms and wagging tails by his beloved mother, Celia; his cherished grandson, Rene; and his granddog, Jameson. No doubt they greeted him with the same love and laughter he shared so freely throughout his life.

Though we wish we had more time, we are grateful for every story, every laugh, every nickname, every lesson, and every memory. His legacy lives on through the family he adored, the lives he touched, and the love he leaves behind.

Dad, your jokes may have been cheesy, your nicknames questionable, and your DoorDash orders frequent, but your love was unwavering. Thank you for everything. We will miss you every day, carry you in our hearts always, and continue sharing your stories for generations to come. Until we meet again, we love you.
