IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jose Carlos
Castillo
April 4, 1943 – March 29, 2023
Jose Carlos Castillo, age 79 passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters on March 29, 2023.
Jose was born to his mother Eliza Palafox Castillo and his father Carlos Vidal Castillo, growing up in a very close knit Mexican American family living in the Barrio close to downtown Tucson. He was Carlitos to his family and he attended Drachman Elementary School, Safford Junior High, and Tucson High School. He enlisted to the U.S. Navy at a very young age and proudly served his country from 1960 to 1964. He met his wife of 58 years Angelina Trejo Castillo (Angie) as teenagers, she was the love of his life, they married in 1964. He is survived by his loving wife Angie, daughters Eliza Trejo Castillo (Raymond Pacheco), Carmen Roxann Castillo-Robles (Robert) and Teresa Castillo Garcia (Fernando). He is also survived by sisters Lupita Castillo (Margo), Barbara J. Castillo, brothers Tomas Castillo (Amanda) and Patrick Castillo (Martha).
Jose became a Journeyman Carpenter after an apprenticeship through the Carpenter's union hall. He later worked at DMAFB and then Sunnyside Unified School District. A hard-working devoted family man who loved his family with all that he had. Nothing made him happier than when he became a grandfather, the best of Tata's to his grandchildren (9) and great-grandchildren (10). He was a humble, kind, and gentle soul who loved woodworking, he was a very talented carpenter and construction worker. He loved to read mostly history books and loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, cooking, and gardening.
Thank you for being such a good husband, father and grandfather, there are not enough words to say how much you will be missed. You were so proud of us your daughters and we were even prouder to have the best DAD! We love you and know that you are here still in our hearts always.
