Obituary

Joe E. Romero Jr., aged 83, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on July 3, 1941, Joe lived a life full of love, laughter and support for his family, friends, and community.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Romero, with whom he shared 54 beautiful years of marriage. Their enduring love and gratitude for one another was a testament to their strong bond and commitment. He is also survived by his two sons, Joey Romero and Jonathan Romero, along with Jonathan's wife, Maria. Joe's legacy continues through his two beloved granddaughters, Ryah and Xyhanna, who brought immense joy to his life.

Joe's devotion to his family extended to his three loving sisters: Barbara Romero, Stella Romero, and Maryann Gonzalez (Gerson), and his dear brother, Gilbert Romero.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesus Romero, and his parents, Joaquina and Jose Romero.

Joe was a proud and dedicated service member, retiring from the National Guard after 29 years of honorable service. As an airborne service member and paratrooper, he bravely served his country in Vietnam.

In addition to his military service, Joe retired from the City of Tucson after more than 30 years of dedicated work.

Joe was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for softball. He was a dedicated supporter of the University of Arizona's athletic events–––"Go Wildcats!" He also loved supporting his family and friends at their events, especially in softball, basketball, and football. His presence on the sidelines and in the stands was a source of encouragement and joy for all who knew him.

Throughout his life, Joe was known for his special handshakes and fondly remembered for his saying, "thanks for the warning," when family and friends told him they would see him later.
