Obituary

Guillermo Salgado also known as Memo or Tio Memo was born February 10th, 1926 to Eleazar and Mercedes Martinez Salgado in Nogales, Sonora. Tio Memo passed away on December 9th, 2022 at the age of 96 and is preceded in death by; his parents; Eleazar and Mercedes, his Brothers; Eleazar, Oscar, Roberto, and Ralph, his sisters; Maria Jesus, Mercedes, and Bertha, his niece; Sylvia and his son, Grandson and Wife. Tio Memo is survived by numerous nieces and nephews that he adored.  Also leaving behind four children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Tio Memo lived and went to school in Tiger, Arizona. He then went to serve his country in 1944 and was honorably discharged. After his return, he worked at the St. Anthony Mine in Tiger, AZ and then relocated to Mammoth, Arizona to work in the Magma Copper Company of San Manuel as a high packer. In 1948, Tio Memo got married and started his family. Tio Memo also worked at the Arizona Deaf and Blind school.

Tio Memo was the dancing king of Tiger, Mammoth and Tucson. He even was his niece's dancing partner to her 8th grade promotion. Tio Memo was a good dancer and loved to dance with everyone.

Tio Memo spent his years with his siblings, family and friends. Tio Memo was a very lucky card player and also had his luck with scratcher tickets… really good luck. Tio Memo was best known for his jokes and pranks.

His next job after retirement was dropping off and picking up his nephews and nieces to school or the school bus stop. He also enjoyed riding the city bus and spending time with the bus drivers around Tucson, occasionally stopping at the casinos. Tio Memo also had many friends who he also loved to visit while out riding the bus. In these years he also became a Godfather.

The majority of his later life was spent with his sister Bertha; Sharing her home and companionship with countless duties and memories.

He then spent his last two years of life with the Saenz family, and special thanks to Mark for taking care of Tio Memo during that time.

Thank you for all the memories Tio Memo, you will be missed.
