IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Greg
Bustamante
June 9, 1966 – June 20, 2025
On June 20th, 2025 Greg Bustamante lost his battle with lung cancer. Greg was affectionately known as "The Travieso" growing up but grew to become known as Tio Greg.
Greg is survived by his mother, Carmen Bustamante, his sister, Teresa Bustamante Montaño (Manuel), his loving girlfriend Karen Smith, his 7 nieces and nephews and his 6 great-nieces and nephews. He also had a lot of extended family and close friends he loved. He is preceded in death by his Father, Jim Bustamante.
Anyone who knew him, knew his deep, infectious laugh that could echo a block away. He was the perfect mix of fun, adventurous spirit, and just a touch of Wildman. Greg loved four-wheeling and quad riding. He was passionate about fitness, often working out in the home gym his father, Jim.
After high school, Greg shared countless wild adventures with his closest friends—from spontaneous road trips to Santa Monica Pier, arriving just in time for sunrise, to weekends in Rocky Point, or fishing and camping at Roosevelt Lake. Life was never dull with Greg. He had a way of becoming family to everyone he met.
Greg served his country with pride in the Air National Guard and completed his service honorably. Afterward, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start Sunset Pool Services, and later, Iron Works—his ornamental metal design company. His artistic touch came through in everything he made—windows, doors, gates.
Later in life, Greg returned to school and pursued a career in physical therapy—a decision that changed his path forever. He found purpose and passion in helping others recover from injuries and surgeries. His work took him across cities and countries, where he built new friendships and touched many lives. Physical therapy wasn't just a job to Greg—it was his calling.
He loved the outdoors—hiking, biking, stargazing—and he lived as naturally as possible. He was always sharing tips for better living and eating, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Greg never hesitated to lend a hand, to be there when you needed him.
Greg will be deeply missed. His services will be held July 11, 2025. Memorial Visitation will be from 8AM-11:30AM with a Rosary at 10AM at Carrillo's Mortuary 204 S Stone Ave. Tucson, AZ 85701. A mass will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Parish 1950 Irvington Pl, Tucson, AZ 85746 at 12PM.
