IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria Maria
Ybarra
April 16, 1942 – June 8, 2025
Gloria Maria Ybarra, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 surrounded by family. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Though her loss brings us immense sorrow, we find solace in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved son, Memo, who preceded her in death.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Guillermo, children: Gloria (Michael), Griselda and Georgina, grandchildren: Anna (Mike), Rene and Matthew, great-grandchildren: Alissandra, Alyvia and Augie.
Born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, she immigrated to the United States at 13 years old. Gloria attended Roskgruge and Tucson High School, where she mastered the English language. She found immense fulfillment working as a teacher's assistant for several years, making a lasting impression on her students' lives. Her personal experience with tragedy led her to Parents of Murdered Children (now Homicide Survivors), where she provided vital support to families of survivors, inspiring hope and resilience.
Wherever Gloria went, she would inevitably see someone she knew. She befriended numerous strangers with her infectious laugh and smile. Her heart was full of generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her legacy of love will live on, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Gloria loved watching baseball (Go Dodgers), watching Disney movies, reading, listening to music, singing, cooking and spending time with family.
Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Hospice in the Desert, who provided excellent care and showed remarkable kindness during this difficult time. We'd also like to extend a special thank you to Claudia Flores, her friend and caregiver who took exceptional care of Gloria during the past two and a half years. In addition, thank you to Gloria's two sisters, Teresa and Pernela Jones, for the remarkable care, compassion and love that they showed Gloria (and our family) these last several months.
