IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gilberto E.
Ramos
November 25, 1924 – February 9, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gilberto E. Ramos, age 101, of Tucson, Arizona, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of his familiar home on February 9, 2026. Born on November 25, 1924, in Nogales, Arizona, to parents Sr. Manuel Ramos "Ramito" y Susana Ramos Estrada Granillo, Siblings Raul Ramos, Emma Arriaga , Consuelo Noriega.
Gilberto lived a long and meaningful life, deeply rooted in faith, family, and love.
Gilberto was a devoted husband to his beloved Susanna Ramos (deceased) and a loving father to Gilbert Ramos Jr. deceased (Odilia ) Ramos , Lydia (John) Hernandez, Leticia (Henry) Ormsby, Dora Ramos, and Conrad (Mariel) Ramos. To his family, he was more than a father and Tata— he was "Papa," the heart of the family, a steady presence whose love shaped generations.
A hardworking, humble, and extraordinarily generous man, Papa dedicated many years to providing for his family through honest labor. He worked in the mines, at a lumber yard, and as a forklift driver, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet determination. No task was too small, and no responsibility too great when it came to caring for those he loved.
Despite the demands of work, Gilbert always made time for his familia. He found joy and peace in the outdoors—tending to his yard, building with his hands, and soaking in the beauty of nature and his beloved Barrio Hollywood. He was happiest in simple moments — sitting outside, reflecting, with the music of his favorite artists, Pedro Infante and Linda Ronstadt Canciones de Mi Padre, playing in the background. Those melodies were the soundtrack to a life lived with gratitude and heart.
Papa's life was defined not by wealth or recognition, but by the depth of his love, the strength of his character, and his unwavering devotion to family. He taught through example — showing the value of hard work, humility, faith, and unconditional love. His legacy lives on in the hands he held, the lessons he shared, and the family he cherished so deeply.
He is survived by sister Chelo, children Lydia (John) Hernandez, Leticia (Henry) Ormsby, Dora Ramos, Conrad (Mariel) Ramos , daughter in law Odilia Ramos, grandchildren Katrina (Kevin Brim) Ramos, Rene Ramos, Lalo (Merlen) Ramos, Melissa (Chris) Lopez , William (Jesse) Ormsby Valle , Savina (Fabian) Galvez, Tamar Hernandez, Peter Ramos, Andy (Katie) Ormsby, Alexander & Milan Ramos. Great Grand children Ari Ramos, Capri & Caden Brim, Aaron Ramos, Alina & Lynnae Garcia, Zion, Tyrion & Elijah Lopez and Julian Galvez
He was deeply cherished and will be greatly missed, yet the strong foundation he built — grounded in love and humility — will endure for generations to come.
Forever our Papa. Forever in our hearts.
