March 10, 1946 – May 16, 2024
Gilbert (Pon) Borboa, born on March 10, 1946, passed away on May 16, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy defined by his steadfast faith, love, and sociability. As a devout Catholic, Gilbert's life was deeply rooted in his beliefs, his love for studying scripture, reciting the rosary, and serving as a lector at St. John's Church. These practices were central to his spiritual life, reflecting his unwavering commitment to his faith and his desire to serve his community.

Outside of his religious and alumni involvement, Gilbert enjoyed music and dance, often seen on the dance floor at social events. He enjoyed dedicating songs to loved ones over his favorite Tejano radio station - KXEW 1600.
Gilbert's initiative in spearheading the creation of his neighborhood's bocce court reflected his commitment to bringing people together in a spirit of friendly competition and camaraderie. His caring nature and dedication to community shone through in his efforts to provide welcoming spaces where individuals could connect and build friendships.
In his final days, Gilbert looked forward to reuniting with his mother, Rose Borboa, and brothers, Anthony Borboa and Ronnie Borboa, who had passed away before him. This anticipation reflected his unwavering faith and the comfort he found in the promise of eternal rest.
Gilbert is survived by his sons Gilbert Borboa Jr., and Greg Borboa, his brothers Fred (Terry) Borboa, and William Sanchez, his sister Irma (Edward) Sandoval, and his nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren, all of whom were touched by his love and devotion.
