Obituary

Frank M. Barrios, age 97, was a deeply admired husband, father, and grandfather. On the evening of Tuesday, January 20, 2026, he peacefully departed this life, joining our Heavenly Father—and his beloved wife, Frances Barrios, who preceded him in death on October 21, 2022. Frank and Frances shared 69 years of marriage, a life built on love, faith, and devotion to family.

Frank lived a long, meaningful life marked by humor, creativity, and service. His presence was steady, kind, and memorable. Frank showed his love through laughter, and humor was one of his greatest gifts. His quick wit and gentle teasing were how he connected, comforted, and brought people together.

Frank proudly served his country during the Korean War, a rare distinction that included service in both the United States Navy and the United States Army. His dedication, loyalty, and sense of duty were lifelong values that shaped who he was.

A true lover of nature, Frank found joy in gardening and spending time outdoors. He was a self-employed landscaper and due to his love of caring for plants and flowers Frank worked until the happy age of 84.  He also had a creative spirit—he was a talented woodworker, finding deep satisfaction in creating things with his hands. Whether tending to plants or crafting something new, he approached life with curiosity, patience, adventure, and care.

Frank is survived by his three children, Frank Barrios, Sandy Smith, and Esther Lubben; sons-in-law, Dewain Smith and David Lubben; daughter-in-law, Debbie Barrios; 7grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Above all, Frank will be remembered for his humor, his creativity, and the quiet wisdom that came from a life well lived. His legacy lives on through the stories shared, the things he created, and the love he gave to those around him. To the man who loved all that nature and God created, we will find you in every sunset, every rainfall, and every blooming flower, until we meet again.

A Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at 9:30 AM at St. Rita in the Desert Church, in the John XXlll Building, located at 13260 E Colossal Cave Rd, Vail, AZ 85641. A Funeral Mass will follow immediately at 10:00 AM. Interment services will take place immediately after the Mass at Holy Hope Cemetery, located at 3555 N Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705.

Floral arrangements can be sent in Frank's name to Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, 204 S. Stone Ave AZ. 85701
