IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francisco M
Durazo
February 13, 1936 – June 11, 2024
Francisco M. Durazo, known affectionately as Frank, was born on February 13, 1936, and passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2024, with his son and daughter by his side. He joins his beloved wife, Eva, in heaven just in time to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy, enlisting in 1966 and retiring in 1986 as a Senior Master Chief, the highest rank for an enlisted man. His naval career took him around the globe, including postings on the West Coast, East Coast, and Hawaii. He crossed the equator twice and often said, "I saw it all, I did it all, and I lived a full life. I have no regrets."
After his military retirement, Frank devoted himself to caregiving, selflessly tending to his son, his mother-in-law, and his wife. In his later years, he enjoyed watching his beloved Diamondbacks baseball team, attending a live game with his son, and visiting with his lifelong friend of 40 years Beto, in San Diego. Frank deeply cherished his family and the time he spent with them, enjoying family dinners and movie nights.
Frank was a beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and recently a great-great-grandfather, endearingly known as Grandpa Cookie. He loved being in the kitchen, his breads, biscuits, and cookies left everyone wanting more.
He is survived by his sister, Lupita; his daughter, Cynthia (Javier); and his son, Edward. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mariah, Shawn (Araliya), Nicole (Jason), Shannon, Adrienne (Jason), Angel (Sonya), Alexandria, and Carlos; his great-grandchildren: Deus, Mila, Elwyn, Amelie, Oona, Ezrin, Indiana, Odessa, Charlie, Lenayia, Nico, Carlos and great-great-grandson Emiliano. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; his son, Michael; and his grandsons, Mike and Alexander.
Dad taught us structure, patience, unconditional love, respect, selflessness, dedication to one another, and a love of cooking and reading—attributes I pray we have passed on to our children. My father's true love for us will forever leave a part of our lives empty. Our hearts will be sad but full of everything he ever was to us. Blessed be you, Dad, and you are in the arms of our Lord. To the moon and back. I'll be waiting for you.
Frank's life was marked by service, adventure, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and warmth. You were loved beyond words, and we were blessed to have you as long as we did. We will miss your humor, your cooking, and catching your kisses.
