Obituary

Francisca Irene Borjon, age 61, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 31, 1965, in Morenci, Arizona, to Juan Macias Borjon Jr. and Evangelina G. Borjon, Francisca "Chica" grew up with a passion for "shaking her groove thing" at Dave's Disco. She held a fervent love for music, specifically singing; her notable performances ranged from the 1978 Morenci Fiesta de los Flores to Sunday mornings at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Ohio.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Francisca could always be found cheering on her favorite teams—from her hometown Morenci Wildcats to the University of Arizona Wildcats, and her beloved Baltimore Ravens. Throughout her life, she also enjoyed playing tennis, playing piano, bowling, traveling the world, and, above all else, cherishing time with her two sons and her loyal black lab, Kia.

Francisca served a distinguished 22 year career in the United States Navy, as a Logistics Specialist retiring in 2018 at the honorable rank of Chief Petty Officer. She served at numerous commands and ships including the USS Willamette and USS Inchon. Her service took her across the globe to places such as Australia, Singapore, and Sicily, as well as stations in Hawaii, California, Texas, Virginia, and Ohio. She will be remembered for her commitment to mentorship, often taking young sailors under her wing to guide them with the leadership that defined her career.

Her dedication to her faith was equally steadfast. She taught CCD classes and provided vital support to her community through countless volunteer events. Most of all, her family and friends will remember her for the courage and strength she displayed during her final chapter. For 12 years, she stood her ground against breast cancer with a "fight for the ages" that rivaled Rocky vs. Creed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Macias Borjon Jr., and her mother, Evangelina G. Borjon. She is survived by her two sons, Timothy Wilson and Anthony Wilson; her grandson, Milo Wilson; her brothers, Juan and Tomas; and her sisters, Nydia, Lori Cates (Don), Elisa Patino (Rick), Lucinda, Ysette Higgins (Travis), and Griselda (Al) and numerous nieces and nephews.
