Obituary

Frances Salaz Uhrig, 74, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on October 9 th , 2022.

Our beloved mother is now reunited with her husband of 41 years, Edwin A. Uhrig, her parents Soledad O. Salaz and Guadalupe G. Salaz and many treasured family members that proceeded her in death. Frances is survived by her three sons, Rodney (Elaine), Jeffrey (Janet) and Randy; four grandchildren, Christopher (Steven), Amanda Arguellez (Gabriel), Maya and Jeffrey Jr.; and great-grandson Julian Arguellez.

Frances was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 31 st , 1948. A lifelong Tucsonan, Frances was a fixture in the community. She was a 1967 graduate of Pueblo High School, and as a proud Warrior she attended Pima Community College and her civic and non-profit involvement kept her involved in the grassroots and corporate entities throughout Southern Arizona.

Frances was a devoted mother and friend. Her kind disposition made any who came in contact with her feel welcomed and loved. Frances had the innate ability to create genuine rapport with strangers that would become instantaneous friends. Her greatest strengths lie within her sense of self that exuded an inner confidence that made her a natural leader and a person that others could depend on. She passed these traits down to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. She was comfortable in her own skin and easily stood out in any gathering of people.  Her light was infectious, and people were drawn to her humor and warmth. She believed in tough love and always acted with unconditional love. She will be dearly missed but her legacy will live on through those who were lucky enough to cross her path.

A devout catholic, her faith carried her throughout her life. Frances loved music, sports and novelas. She valued education and was a voracious reader. She enjoyed making amazing food for family and friends, and always had something to feed anyone who came into her home. Her accomplishments in life always surrounded what was best for her family. Everything that she did she found success in. Her can-do spirit is what separated her from others. Her legacy of love will live on through her family, and by any definition, she was the best wife, mother, nana, and great-nana that anyone could wish for.
