Preceded in death by husband Antonio F. Acosta, daughters Catalina R. Acosta and Leticia R. Acosta, brother Juan Ruiz, and sister Teresa Soto.
Born in Los Angeles, Evangelina and her husband Antonio made Tucson their home in 1950 where they raised a beautiful family. A devoted, faithful, compassionate matriarch and pillar of St. John's Church, she passed surrounded by loved ones at the age of 96. Cherished by many, she is survived by her brother, Raymundo Ruiz; children Antonio Acosta Jr. (Arlene), Thomas Acosta (Agustal), Maricella Acosta, Evangelina Acosta Cardenas, Lupita Acosta Vargas (Art), and Cris Acosta Cavazos (Fidel), as well as18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren.
