It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest V. Lopez, who left us on December 19, 2024, at the age of 89. Ernest was born on June 18, 1935, in Tucson, AZ, to Ramon and Maria Lopez.

Ernest was a devoted husband to Gloria P. Lopez, with whom he shared 67 years of love and partnership. He was a quiet man with a big heart, known for his caring nature. In his younger years, Ernest was an avid baseball player and golfer. He also dedicated his time to coaching Little League and girls' softball, passing on his love for sports. A lifelong fan of the University of Arizona, Ernest was a true sports enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Maria Lopez, his sister Estella Hughes, and his brother Richard Lopez.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Gloria P. Lopez; his children, Ernest Lopez Jr., Ernestine Contreras, and Margaret Munoz; his sister, Cruz Castillo; and his brother, Raymond Lopez. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Angelica Munoz (Sylvia), Kimberly Munoz (Chris), and David Contreras (Denisse), as well as his great-grandchildren, Alina, David, and Matthew Contreras. Ernest is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
