IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elsie Moreno
Gastelum
February 8, 1943 – April 22, 2024
Elsie M. Gastelum, born February 8, 1943. A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and comadre, was called home on April 22,2024 at the age of 81.
A Tucson Native, and a graduate of Pueblo High School "Go Warriors"! She loved her many years working as a bank teller at Valley National Bank. She told many stories of all the fun times she had there. My personal favorite was the one where her friends would send cans of beer in the drive thru teller tubes right before closing. She was always the life of the party, and brutally honest.
She is survived by her brother, Rene (Alicia) Moreno, her children, Leonard (Teresa) Garcia, Liz (Larry) Alvarez, Belinda Garcia, and Daniel Garcia. Her 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She found happiness in the sounds of the casino slot machines and loved dancing and singing along to the music of Vicente Fernandez, Ramon Ayala and many others. She loved watching Randy Johnson and her D-backs on tv and loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. She was always solving on Wheel of Fortune and secretly had a crush on Sonny from General Hospital. But most of all she enjoyed the simple things in life, such as cooking in the kitchen and making her favorite conchitas for everyone to enjoy. She found the most delight in being surrounded by the ones she loved, making tamales, laughing, and telling stories, and eating just a little bit of everything.
As her body will now rest in eternal peace, she will continue to live on through our memories and through the many lives she touched. Her light will continue to shine even on the darkest of days. We are so thankful God let us enjoy her for the time we had. She will be missed greatly, but never forgotten.
