Obituary

Elgene is eternally dancing in the Heavens above.  She was the daughter of Charles & Vivian Scandrett, and was born in Pasadena, CA.  She moved to Sunny Hills, CA in 1954 and had a vacation home in Idyllwild.  She attended Fullerton College and was nominated the Baseball Queen, which led to meeting the love of her life in 1959, Ronald James Navarrette.  They settled in Placentia, CA and raised four children: Lucinda, Ronald Jr., Michelle, and Robert.  Her children were very active in sports, including: baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, tennis, ice skating, and cheerleading.  She was always cheering her kids on, being the Team Mom and Girl Scout Leader.

Elgene was an active volunteer at church, and worked for Disneyland and Permag Corporation as a Sales Manager.  Ron & Elgene later retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2000 until she passed.  They were married for 59 years.  Elgene loved her garden, caring for her desert tortoise "Snoopy," collecting Disney memorabilia, Pickard China, and cultural art.  She took Tap and Zumba lessons because she loved to dance, and volunteered her time at the Arizona Theatre Company.

Elgene was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.  She had many life-long friends and loved ones.  She even kept in touch with her high-school friends and hosted reunions at her home.  It was very important for her to cherish these relationships because she knew that family and friends were the most important thing in life.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  She was grateful to share her life and world travels with her brothers and sisters: Diego Jr. (Elena), Artella (Jim), Diana, David (Linda), Ricardo (Luz), and Deborah (Michael).  Elgene is also survived by her brother Forrest Scandrett (Arnette).
