Dolores Arzelia Rodriguez 78, born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 27, 1945, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on May 8, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and Nana.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Scott) Martinez and Rachel (George) Applegate; three grandchildren: Megan, Robin (Ethan) and Sofia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Ruth Ortega.

Our mom loved family and had compassion for everyone she met. She had an amazing sense of humor and loved hearing the house full of laughter and joy. She was always supportive , gave good advice , told us to have faith in ourselves and if you wanted something to happen, make it happen. She said to fight for what you believe in, work hard to stand on your own and make a difference in the world and be happy and joyful because everyday is a blessing.

She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She attended events that included dance recitals, orchestra concerts, softball & basketball games. Her favorite was attending grandparents day at Quail Run Elementary School. She was an amazing cook with fresh homemade tortillas, rice, beans and catered to whatever we asked for. She always made sure you were fed, and she treasured the many deep conversation s had about life and the good old days at the dinner table. She loved gardening and spending time outside while listening to the wind chimes and watching the butterflies and hummingbirds.

She was loved and cherished by so many and will be missed beyond words. She said this would be a new chapter for us all and to not cry or be sad as she will be reunited in heaven with Dad. She was so proud of her life and said she was blessed for having a beautiful family and friends. We are so grateful to have her as our mother, she showed us unconditional love and said that the love she has for us all will continue on in heaven.
