Derek Urundi Willis, known to the family as "Rundi", and to friends as "D" or "Dmakk" was born February 25, 1971 in Tucson, Arizona to John and Helen Willis. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Willis.

Derek was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona to John and Helen Willis, he also spent a little time in Stanfield, Arizona. He went to Cavett Elementary, Townsend Middle, and Catalina High School. In his youth he was a great dancer among his peers, he was always the life of the party with his bright smile, magnetic energy, and cooking skills. Also, his love for the 49ers and dislike for the Dallas Cowboys. Later in life Derek went on to become a sous chef at "The Forum". Derek was a simple man, all he wanted to do was make people laugh, cook great food, and take care of his children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his father John Willis; two sons, Derek Willis, Jr and Christopher Willis; daughter Robyn Willis. He is also survived by granddaughter Jae'Ani Leon Willis; grandson Da'Marien Leon Willis;  brothers, Aranzi Willis and Jarrund Willis; sisters Evelyn Willis, Mia Brabson, Trina Simms, and numerous cousins and friends.
