Obituary

Cynthia Leonor Villaseñor
May 9, 1965 – Mar. 31, 2016

Our Heavenly Father welcomed a new angel to his Kingdom with the passing of Cynthia Villaseñor on March 31, 2016.  Cynthia was a special soul who saw the joy in all things and brought that joy to others through her simple, pure view of life. Entering this world with Down Syndrome, everyone kept on saying that we shouldn't get too attached because she wouldn't last long, and she wouldn't be able to "fit in" to this world.  They obviously did not know her mother or her family.

Cynthia proved them all wrong and remained a strong vital part of our family and our world for the past 50 years.  She had a unique view of the world and lived in a manner that was infectious in its simple view of life and the pleasures it could bring.  She loved celebrations and parties of all kinds, and was never happier than at family gatherings.  She loved to dance. Lord, that girl loved to dance. And she did it with the confidence of not caring what others thought about her.  And the funny thing was that she could make you not care as well.  That's a gift many of us would benefit from.

For the past fifteen years, Cynthia and Mom lived with Cynthia's older sister Alicia. She continued to be the highlight of many family parties, and it was just expected that as the other family members grew older and formed their own lives, every major holiday or event still included her. And every time we saw her she would make sure to remind us of the next event that she expected us to be at!

For the last several years though, Cynthia's mind and body did start to fail her. She developed Alzheimer's and it was heartbreaking to watch her lose her abilities and slowly digress.  Towards the end she was non-communicative and appeared to be in constant discomfort.  Her suffering was alleviated as much as possible by the constant care of our sister Alicia, as well as Mom when she could.  In the last few weeks she was admitted by Hospice into La Estancia Skilled Nursing Facility, where she passed away with family at her side.

Cynthia is preceded into Heaven by her father Agustin M. Villaseñor Jr.,

and is survived by her mother, Enedina A. Villaseñor,

her sister Alicia Rodriguez,

and her brothers Agustine III and Roberto A. Villaseñor.

She also leaves behind eleven nieces and nephews, and one grandniece and one soon to be born grandnephew.

Her spirit and love will definitely be missed, but we are all excited to see her again in Heaven and have long talks with her, as she will be able to finally fully express herself through her perfect mind and body in God's kingdom.  We are sure she will be dancing.
