Carmen Gastelum, loving Wife, Sister, Aunt, Mother and Grandmother, died peacefully on December 11, 2023, at her home in Green Valley, AZ.
Carmen was born on October 24, 1927, to Tremetro and Cruz Celaya from Atil, Sonora Mexico. Carmen spent 30+ years as a Head Chef for the Green Valley Country Club starting her days at 4am. (Time to make the doughnuts!) She was married to Jim Gastelum from Amado, Arizona, a WWII Veteran - Europe. In 1947 she gave birth to her daughter, Esther (Gonzales) in Riverside California.
Carmen was active in the catholic church community, from praying the rosary daily, volunteering in church events, being an advocate to the catholic community. In the mid 90's she went to Mexico City to visit churches and pray.
Carmen,, leaves behind a legacy of family traditions of authentic Mexican cuisines, culture, family and religion.
