Gallego
September 22, 1930 – October 26, 2023
Bertha "Bodie" Gallego, age 93 was called home on October 26, 2023. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend. Her beautiful presence on this earth is so deeply missed.
Bodie is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Albert M. Gallego. Both longtime residents of Tucson, the couple was loved and adored by many. Preceded also by her parents, Jose M. Felix and Rufina Felix and sister, Esther Ochoa. Bodie is now reunited with the love of her life and close family members.
Survived by daughters, Norma Gallego, Patricia Botosan and 2 grandchildren, Armando Durazo and Monica Durazo. Bodie also leaves behind one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Durazo-Frescas and one sister, Mary Louise "Tita" Zavala. Countless friends and family members additionally remain a part of her legacy.
Bodie was one of the earliest members of the Tucson Women's Fast Pitch Softball League. She was a member of the original 22nd Street FLIRTS team and in later years enjoyed coaching her daughters. She attended Tucson High School where she was on the pep squad and graduated from Tucson High in 1948.
Bodie will be remembered as a kind, caring and vibrant soul who truly cared about everyone she met. Her glitter tops and jitterbug dance will never be forgotten. The love she expressed so genuinely for her friends and family continues to live on. She has left a lasting impression in all our hearts that will never be replaced.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday November 7th at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Avenue, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Rosary will begin at 7 p.m.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Avenue, on Wednesday November 8 at 10 a.m. The burial to follow at Holy Hope cemetery, 3555 N Oracle Rd.
A reception will be announced at the services.
