IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur "Arturo"
M Gonzales
June 16, 1928 – March 9, 2023
Arturo M. Gonzales, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 8, 2023.
Arturo (Art, Arthur, Turi) was born in Dos Cabezas, AZ to Cornelio and Concepcion Gonzales. The family relocated to Willcox, AZ and eventually to Tucson, AZ where he became a lifelong resident after serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. It was in Tucson that he met the love of his life Josephine, his "Sweetie." They were married for 64 years raising a family that he so loved. He enjoyed dancing, traveling and volunteering for the Knights of Columbus Council #1200 with his wife until she passed away in 2019.
Arturo was a hard-working husband and father and worked for Duval Mines from where he retired. What he is was most proud of was his time in the Navy and all of his travels that took him to different countries and throughout the United States. His stories were endless and his eyes would light up telling everyone about his adventures, the people he met and places he saw. He also had endless stories about his childhood, family and friends. He had a zest for life, food, music, fixing things and watching westerns and sports. He will be missed dearly especially his stories, sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Arturo is survived by his children, Gilbert Olivares, Richard Olivares, Ronald Gonzales (Mary), Arturo "Turi" Gonzales (Georganne), Anna Orantez and Rose Gonzalez. 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister Belle Wilson and many nieces and nephews who loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine L. Gonzales, his father Cornelio Gonzales, his mother Concepcion Gonzales, his siblings: Gilberto, Raymundo, Cornelio and Betty.
