Armida Olivas Kays's Obituary

Armida Olivas Kays now belongs timelessly to the heavens and the generations to reflect upon . . . leaving behind a lasting legacy.  She will remain present in time within our hearts.

She was a kind, loving, and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  To the deepest parts of her Soul, she had an abundance of love for her family.  She taught her children that family always comes first, accept and love each other, be there for one another, enjoy each other's company, gather with each other often, and protect and nurture this love so that it may continue to blossom for the next generations.

She was hardworking in life and worked endlessly to provide for her eight children.  She put herself through nursing school, so that she could afford a better living for her family.  She taught her children by example and pathed their path of righteousness, taught them to persevere, and embedded her moral compass within their hearts; life's burdens and hardship was something to overcome through determination, hard work, prayer, and faith.  She saw the glass half-filled and not half-emptied, remaining optimistic for the future.

She believed in herself, a leader by any measure, and stood upon a solid foundation of love, strength, will, integrity and beliefs.  She was a happy and loving person.  She accepted all and never judged; believed that the only one allowed to judge was God the Father and Jesus Christ.  By design, all her attributes carried over to her children.  Hallelujah!

She loved going to musicals, watching classical movies, and reading books.  She enjoyed traveling which she got to do later in life, a passion for caring and growing plants creating a botanical garden at her home, loved being by the ocean, and spending time with her beloved dog and companion, Ditto.

She was a devote member of the Catholic Church, read the bible daily, and said her morning and evening prayers for her family.  She was grateful for all her blessings and burdens, both providing valuable lessons and personal growth.  One of her favorite poems, "Footprints in the Sand."

The end-of-life journey is difficult to navigate, she was a fighter in life and it appears a fighter until the end.  Even during her last days, she provided her family with lessons of love, courage, faith, and great strength.  We take great comfort that she is no longer suffering from her many ailments and she is at peace.

She is survived by her children Richard Olivas Romo, Patricia Carley, Antoinette Islas (Joseph R. Maldonado), Diane Moreno (Andy), Romeo Strohacker (Steve), Martin Roy Romo (Jennifer), and Christina Pena Sorum (Scott), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband and soulmate Ramon Mungaray, her parents Joe Olivas and Adela Rico Olivas, her son Alexander Romo, brothers Rudy Olivas, Joe Olivas (Ileana Olivas).

Prayer for our loved one . . .  May you successfully transition to your next journey with our Heavenly Father, may it be filled with an epic amount of love, kindness, and joy.  May you have no unfinished business, may you rest in peace, and may you take with you all the love your family has for you.
