IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Armando Lowe
Altamirano
April 19, 1945 – May 11, 2023
Armando Lowe Altamirano, 78, entered into the presence of our Heavenly Father on May 11, 2023. Armando was born in Tucson, AZ where he lived his entire life other than while serving in the U.S. military. He was a graduate of Tucson High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He was active in the Badger Foundation and enjoyed reminiscing with other alumni about their high school years.
Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, Armando attended Pima Community College and worked in the school's athletic department, including announcing basketball games. He later went on to work for the University of Arizona Athletic Department as a Sports Equipment Manager and accompanied the 1980 Wildcat Baseball team on their journey to winning the College World Series. He later went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a Special Delivery Carrier. Following his retirement, he was able to return part-time to the UofA working in support of Title IX Athletics.
"Coach" was a great dancer, avid sports aficionado, and had an infectious sense of humor. He was a volunteer at Casa Maria Soup Kitchen, humbly serving within the very same neighborhood in which he grew up. He was a member of St. Ambrose Parish for nearly 50 years and a proud school parent for many of those years.
Most of all, Armando was fiercely devoted to his family. He was a faithful servant of Our Lord, walking each day trusting God for guidance. His faith was steadfast, even during life's difficult moments. In the midst of our grief, we remember his example, taking refuge in the Great Comforter. We pour out our pain before God, trusting in Him at all times.
Armando is survived by Bernadette, his loving wife of 53 years, his children Caroline and Marc, Matthew, Armando and Naideny, his bonus children Oscar, Ruben, and Lisa, grandchildren Marcos Daniel, Amanda and Luis, and Luke Anthony, great-grandchildren Camila and Luis Andres, siblings Irene, Pat and David, sister-in-law Norma and Uncle Joe T. Altamirano, as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jose and Dolores Altamirano, mother Frances A. Alvarez, in-laws Oscar and Olga Burruel, brother Larry Alvarez, Aunt Mary A. Gradillas, and Uncle Oscar (Ruben) T. Altamirano.
