IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antonio Ortiz
Canez
May 28, 1931 – November 6, 2025
Antonio O. Cañez, 94, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Tucson on Thursday, November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 28, 1931, in Tucson, to the late Angelita and Miguel Cañez, he grew up in Barrio Hollywood and fondly told memories of his childhood with his family. He was drafted into service with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He served his country with honor and courage, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice and bravery in the line of duty. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and married the love of his life, Terry E. Cañez.
Antonio had a long career in the grocery business, working for Gordon's market for 42 years. He was an active member of his community and a devoted family man. His strong work ethic, kind spirit, and warm presence will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry E. Cañez. He is survived by his children Anna (David) Santos, Angela (Edward "Bino") Sanchez, Miguel (Cheryl) Cañez, and Aida Cañez, and his grandchildren AJ Sanchez, Marissa (Tyler) Jenkins, and Miranda Cañez.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all our family and friends who have supported us during this time. We extend a special thanks to the Southern Arizona VA Health Care and Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional support and service.
