Obituary

God's gift to many, peacefully passed away on January 1, 2025, surrounded by loving family. Anna was a wonderful wife of 64 years to Raul E. Leon and mother to 6 blessed children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Her passing on New Year's Day was a calling from the Lord for a new beginning after her wonderful and loving job on earth was complete. Anna will always be remembered for her graciousness, faith, and the many examples of love to all family and friends that were blessed to experience life with her. She put up a valiant battle to stay connected to all she loved in the last years of her life.  Even then, she never hesitated to laugh at a joke, to give a hug and kiss, and a sincere "I Love You".

A Tucson native, she attended Pueblo High School.  She had the first Quinceanera mass on record at Santa Cruz Church.  Anna loved gathering with her family and friends. She looked forward to her trips to Laughlin, Las Vegas, and the monthly luncheons with her cousins at the local casinos or restaurants. She valued time with her family whether it be a birthday party or a casual get together.  She often reminisced about her many years at Sunnyside Unified School District, from which she retired as a nurse's aide at Desert View High School.

Her laughter, her wisdom, and the love she shared so freely will remain with us always. Though her journey here has ended, Anna's impact will echo in the lives she touched.

Preceded in death by parents Abran & Georgina Lares, Son-in-law, Larry Mejia.  Survived by husband Raul E. Leon and children: Raul Leon (Janet), Edward (Ruth) Leon, Anna Leticia (Ernest) Fimbres, Adrianna (Barney) Medina, Luis (Rita) Leon, Peter (Lorena) Leon, brothers Abram (Georgina) Lares and Ralph Lares.
