Oracle, AZ
THOMSON, Ann Louise, 70, of Oracle, AZ passed away peacefully August 30, 2026 with her husband and family at her bedside after a courageous battle with cancer. Ann was born in Tucson on May 8, 1956 to Quentin R. Thomson and Nihla H. Thomson. Ann attended St. Ambrose Catholic Grade school and Salpointe Catholic High School. From a young age, Ann found great joy and love for animals. She dedicated her life to caring and nurturing animals, from dogs and cats to birds to turtles, and perhaps one of her greatest loves of all, horses. Ann became an accomplished equestrian rider with a specialty in English Pleasure and Hunter-Jumper events. In 1988, Ann won the Tucson Winter Classic in the Hunter-Jumper event. This was a nationally rated competition at the Pima County Fair Grounds that drew professional riders from all over the Southwestern United States. Ann also demonstrated her outstanding athleticism when she won the Arizona State Racquetball singles title in 1983. That same year she won the mixed doubles state championship with her brother Mark. She won numerous Tucson City Open Championships as well. Ann was also an incredibly gifted artist and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in 1986. She masterfully replicated some of Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous paintings, such as Starry Night and Cafe Terrace at Night.
Ann met her eventual husband and best friend Michael Davidson in 1978. They were inseparable for 48 years. She was a wonderful loving wife, sister, and aunt. She will be greatly missed throughout our lives. She is preceded in death by her parents Quentin R. Thomson, PhD, and Nihla H. Thomson and brother-in-law Lee Baly. She is survived by her beloved husband Michael Davidson and her seven siblings, Jane Thomson-Baly, Marilyn Thomson, PhD, James (Jackie) Thomson, Susan (Darryl) Thomson-Tschirn, PhD, Mark Thomson, Quentin Thomson Jr., and Eric (Debra) Thomson. She also survived by her 12 nieces and nephews: Scott (Margarita) Baly, Dustin (Karen) Baly, Katherine (Josh) McGurk, Marissa (Ryan) Hurt, Jonathan (AnnaMarie) Thomson, Jessica Thomson Saund, Demian (Rachel) Tschirn, Jennifer (James) Moffat, Emilie Thomson, James Thomson, Robert Thomson, and Brett Thomson.
