Obituary

Angel Rene Taylor (10/31/01 - 10/15/2022)

Angel Rene Taylor, passed away at the young age of 20 in Tucson, Arizona.  He was going to turn 21 on the 31st of this month. Angel is survived by his parents, Vanessa & Corey Hunter, his brother LaVaughn and sister K.vona.  He is also survived by his grandparents, Letticia Tapia and Francisco (Pancho) Trujillo.  He was dearly loved by his nina Tamika, cousins, tios and tias and many close friends.

Angel was born on October 31, 2001 - a "Halloween" baby.  He was full of hair and Vanessa called him her little Werewolf.  She asked the doctor if he was going to stay so hairy.  He was a happy baby and always smiling.  He was Tata's boy - anything his Tata did - he wanted to do the same.  When his Tata cut his foot and had it bandaged up - Angel wanted his leg bandaged too. When Angel was 5 years old, his Nana Letty became his guardian and raised him and his siblings until he turned 18 years old.  One of his favorite memories with his Nana was when she would sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him. Angel loved to be active and jumped at the opportunity to attend summer camp at Camp Yavapines in Prescott, Arizona.  He enjoyed all the activities that camp offered - go carts, zipline, swimming in the pool and probably his favorite part of camp was the singing.  He enjoyed changing the lyrics and making up his own songs.  Angel loved the Lord and dedicated his life twice while he attended camp.  Angel suffered from asthma but that didn't stop him from participating in sports.  He started playing football in middle school.  One touchdown that he scored - he was so excited that he didn't stop running even after he had reached the endzone. He continued being active in sports while attending high school - he played basketball, football, and baseball for Amphi.  He was on the 2019 Southern Arizona High School All Star baseball team.  He got injured while in high school and had to wear a neck brace and was told that he might be paralyzed.  Once he found out that he wasn't paralyzed, he took the neck brace off and continued playing sports. Nothing could stop him. He graduated from Amphitheater High School in 2020.  Even after high school, he continued playing baseball on a club team.  Recently at his last game – he hit a grand slam. Soon after high school, he started working at Amazon and enjoyed making money.  He loved the freedom that working provided.  He held several other jobs - McDonalds, Suntech Concrete, and most recently Progressive Roofing. His sister K.vona will remember her brother for the "boogers" he would flick - started from when they were kids – and even as adults. His brother LaVaughn remembers when they shared a room – at night Angel would always put on music (the radio on 98.3 – slow jams). His dad Corey's favorite memory was when he would put Angel to bed for school and at 3 in the morning, Corey would wake up and Angel would be cooking a 5-course meal. Angel was always joking around and making those around him laugh.  And many of us all have our own special memories.

Vanessa and the family would like to thank everyone that helped through the gofundme, car wash, raffles, t shirt sales, gift baskets, and food plates – which raised the funds to help with the funeral expenses and to hold a celebration of life.  We must celebrate Angel's life because that's what he would have wanted us to do.

Funeral arrangements were made by Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary in Tucson, Arizona.  Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 1pm - 3pm.
