IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew "Andy"
Ramirez
June 5, 1956 – December 21, 2024
Andy's life began in the old barrio, on Otero Street. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Menlo Park neighborhood, where the Ramirez family continued to grow. Andy attended Menlo Park, Roskruge, Cholla High School, PCC, and the U of A.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Belen as well as his brothers, Joey and Davy. Andy is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Therri, children; Danielle (Gilbert) and Andrew (Samantha) and his five adoring grandchildren; Hayden Sage, Jacob Andres, Taylor Jade, Layla Marlyse and Lily Marie. He is also survived by his devoted and dedicated brothers; Rene (Susan), Phillip (Sue), Larry, and Kenny (Cynthia), and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and godchildren.
Andy was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and nino, but his most important role was that of Tata. He adored his grandkids and a highlight of his day was when he would pick up the kids from school and take them to DQ or 7-11 for a treat, that would include a ride up A Mountain to enjoy their goodies. Andy was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were his passion, he went deep sea fishing in Cabo reeling in huge marlin and sailfish, and in the Sea of Cortez where we spent countless vacations. Andy hunted game all over Arizona, antelope in Wyoming as well as deer and elk in Colorado, he scored a trophy whitetail in the Baboquivari's, registered in the Boone & Crockett record book.
Andy was the best storyteller, he told many stories of life on the ranch in Arivaca where they raised cattle, or about Elfrida where they raised crops and then sold them around the neighborhood. A third generation roofer, Andy took great pride in his work, a master with mission tile, his tile work on porches and ramadas around our neighborhood are admired by many. Andy loved life and he celebrated it as much as possible. He loved listening to Funk and R&B, floating around the pool, diving off the roof and diving board, but mostly celebrating it with family. As one of seven boys, Andy was number four, and we were part of a huge family, there was always a party within the family, somewhere.
Andy went home on the Winter Solstice, he bravely faced the challenges of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and while the condition affected him, it did not define him nor the life he lived. The essence of who he was, his love of family, his hard work and vibrant spirit remained strong. His legacy of love, generosity, hard work, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.
