IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Amelia C.
Carrillo
September 14, 1935 – October 14, 2025
Amelia C. Carrillo passed away at her home on October 14, 2025 surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rafael (+), parents Cruz (+) and Andres (+), sister Josephina Salas (+). Survived by her six children, Roxann (Edward), Rosalyn (Edward), Regina (Brett), Rafael (Cindy), Robert, Roman (Christine),16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her cousin Sally Cabrera and her brother in law Alfonso Salas plus multiple nieces and nephews.
Amelia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She met Rafael at a tender age and they were married for 64 years. Amelia dedicated her life to her family and welcomed many into her home. Amelia demonstrated resilience, courage, strength, loyalty and commitment to all she held close.
Amelia cherished her upbringing on the" rancho" in New Mexico and learned the value of hard work and developed a deep respect for her Catholic faith. She was raised by her mother and her six maternal aunts and uncles. Throughout the years, she frequently visited the "rancho" and brought back many traditions and teachings to her children. Amelia's heart always belonged to the "rancho" as she continued to build her life in Tucson with Rafael.
Amelia retired from the Sunnyside School District as a Food Manager in 1997. Amelia went on to care for her home and family for the remainder of her life. She loved gardening and you could find her tending to her many plants throughout the year. She enjoyed music and you could often hear her boleros coming from her kitchen where a pot of beans, fresh New Mexico chili and tortillas were usually waiting for anyone who visited. These traditions continue to shape the hearts and homes of her family.
