Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Alma L. Maish, who was born on September 8, 1933 in Tucson, Arizona.

Alma was the devoted mother of six children: Jim (Trish), Nancy (Brian), Doris (Ken), Randy (Lisa), Elaine and Laura (Mark). She was a cherished grandmother to eighteen grandchildren and a treasured great- grandmother to nineteen great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James V. Maish.

Alma was a registered nurse, a proud graduate of Saint Mary’s School of Nursing. She was also a faithful Catholic and devoted scripture teacher who joyfully shared her love of God with everyone she met. Her deep faith was the foundation of her life, and her favorite words reflected the joy she carried in her heart: “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).

Alma found great happiness in the simple blessings of everyday life. She delighted in creating handmade cards for family and friends, baking fresh bread, making homemade tortillas and preparing delicious Mexican meals that brought loved ones together around her table. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, generous hospitality, and unconditional love.

Beloved by family, friends and all whose lives she touched, Alma leaves behind a legacy of enduring faith, selfless love and quiet strength. Her example will continue to inspire her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many people blessed by her kindness.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love, faith and beautiful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).
