IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alicia
Piña
February 20, 1923 – December 4, 2024
Alicia passed away in her sleep, this past Wednesday, at her home and in the company of her sons, daughters and grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents, Maria M. and Francisco C. Granillo, her husband, Hector B. Piña, her eldest son, Hectorcito, and all her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Maru (Steve) and Irene (Ruben); sons, Raul (Rhonda) and Rene (Keri); grandchildren, Erica, Diego (Katie), Emmanuel (Araceli), Isaias, Zerafina, Marcela (Carl), Michelle, Dyllan, Cammy and Jordan; and great-grandchildren, Elena Sofia, Eric, Andrew (Kristen), Maggie, Kelsey (Collin) and Cassidy.
Alicia led a balanced and long life, through which she experienced significant changes
in her world. She was born into a family that lived in Barrio Anita, in Tucson, where she lived through two world wars and the great depression. Her experiences prepared her to adopt a positive outlook towards life and to motivate all around her to keep a positive
attitude in all their activities. After their marriage, she and her husband lived for over twenty years in Mexico, where she was known for her work ethic, her office skills, her savory cooking and her willingness to lend a helping hand under any circumstances.
She was an accomplished homemaker, who was most of all concerned with the well-being of her family. But she was also interested in the education of her children and peers, and always reminded us to pursue and finish a sound education. After graduating from high school, she completed secretarial school training. She was a capable office administrator for the family business she built with her husband, and which became their livelihood for more than thirty years. She was also an accomplished painter of still life works using oils, pastels and chalk. She was a great cook, could talk about any subject, and was a great listener who was always ready to let you come to explain your concerns and help you face your challenges. And she was a devout Catholic who diligently prayed a rosary every night before going to bed.
She will be missed by many as she left many good memories for all who experienced spending time in her company.
Instead of flowers or other remembrance gifts, may make a donation in her name to two of her favorite charities:
