IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alicia C.
Ormsby
October 12, 1933 – April 23, 2024
Margarita Alicia Corrales Ormsby, 90, passed away quietly on the evening of April 23, 2024 with her children near her. She knew that she was loved and cared for deeply. She was born on October 12, 1933 to Esteban Olivas Corrales and Isabel Margarita Martinez Corrales in Tucson, Arizona.
Alicia was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, Nina, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life she was known for her unconditional love, selflessness, and compassion. She touched the lives of many with her dependability, strength, support and encouragement and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Alicia was a humble home-maker but was also an amazing architect in building her home. She was an avid gardener growing trees around her home from sapling or seed, providing shade, with many places to sit for relaxation. Alicia loved the outdoors, making a small-stream bridge to playfully walk over and designed a river-rock patio for barbecue. A long-time hobby of hers was rescuing and renovating collectibles or furniture for her home and garden. Alicia was also a seamstress designing fashionable outfits, sewing Halloween costumes, bridal gowns, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. She was a great cook, cooking, baking and sharing hundreds or perhaps thousands of desserts, cakes, pies, Mexican dishes and beyond. She loved driving to help family and friends get to where they needed to go. She also loved reading and collected countless books about home improvement, sewing or cooking. In later years she collected books on how to draw figures, paint with watercolor, pastels or draw perspectives. She instilled creativity in others through her example and gentle guiding hands.
She is survived by 4 children: Arnold, Roberta, Kathryn, Frank (Rosario); 7 Grandchildren: Janice, Serena (Amanda), Jeremy David, Alyssa Monet (Erik), DeeAnna (Angel), Antonio (Mikayla), and Angel; 7 great-grandchildren: Dominic, Jenna, Emma, Brienne, Aubrey, Angel, Armando and sister-in-law, Evelyn. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank A. Ormsby Jr., preemie-baby grand-daughter Angel, parents Esteban Olivas Corrales and Isabel Margarita Martinez Corrales; siblings: Helen Corrales Nuñez (Eddie), George Corrales (Rachel), Steve Corrales (Betty) and Hector Corrales.
On Friday, May 10, 2024, a celebration of Alicia's life begins with a Rosary at 9:30 A.M. followed by a memorial mass at 10:00 A.M. Both will be held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S. Sixth Ave., Tucson, AZ 85713. Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705 (Bldg. II-Rosary Mausoleum/8/C/1). All who knew her are welcome to attend, console, hug and share memories with each other.
If you wish to send flowers, please deliver to Santa Cruz Catholic Church on May 10, 2024 by 9:00 A.M. Or in lieu of flowers, you may send a donation for expenses related to our Mom's 'Final Resting Place Of Peace'. In the spirit of love, one of Alicia's favorite and most inspiring prayers was 'God grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE to change the things I can, and the WISDOM to know the difference.'
