Our beloved mother and grandmother, Alicia Paz Leyva, died on February 24, 2026, while recovering from recent shoulder replacement surgery after a fall in her home in Sahuarita Arizona. She was 83.

Alicia was a Pueblo High School graduate, class of 1961. She had many friends over the course of her life, especially Keta Armenta who enjoyed Alicia’s friendship for over 70 years. Alicia was the heart and strength of our family. She raised three children, Marcos (58), Xavier (54), and Alex (52), in a happy and loving home to be independent, thoughtful and caring adults. Alicia was married for 48 years to our revered father, Victor Alfonso who preceded her in death. As a grandmother to nine grandchildren: Tina (25), Octavio (18), Audrina (17), Corrina (20), Nathaniel (16), Nicholas (16), Alejandra (19), Adriana (17) and Angelina (14) she opened her home and kitchen for the Annual Pre-Christmas Cookie baking weekend, where several dozen cookie recipes were selected, baked, decorated, shared and devoured! She will always be remembered as the "fun Nana" taking the grandchildren on shopping outings and hosting Friday Night Pizza nights spoiling them rotten as much as she could, especially during the holidays. Christmas was always her favorite time of the year; she spared no expense on special Hallmark Christmas tree ornaments making her home extra welcoming for Santa (and family).

Alicia was known for her passion in the kitchen, always making family favorites for her grandkids and was an exceptional baker. She was the heart and soul of our family, she will be dearly missed.
