Garcia, Alfred Cortez, 86, passed away on August 9, 2025 under hospice care. He was born August 20, 1938 in Artesia, New Mexico. Preceded in death by parents Manuel and Mercedes Garcia; son Roland Gomez Garcia; wife Alpidia Gomez Garcia; sister Lupe Hernandez, and dear friend Elaine Mahoney. Survived by his children Violanda Sullivan (Mike); David Gomez Garcia (Ana Marie); Arsilia Garcia Hanna (Don); Donny Granado (Kelli); Anna Maria Garcia Cunes (George); and Stephen Ray Gomez Garcia (Ronelle); (4) sisters; several Nieces and Nephews; (20) Grandchildren; and (21) Great Grandchildren. Alfred was a hard worker and physically active all his life. He worked on New Mexico farms and joined the U.S Army and obtained welding skills. "Chome" left New Mexico to work at The Boeing Company, Seattle, Washington. In 1970, "Big Al" relocated the family to Tucson, Arizona to work at Duval Mine. He then worked at Arizona Portland Cement, Rillito, Arizona, until he retired. Alfred "Grandpa" was blessed to be a very active, family man. He loved to travel, sightsee on road trips; water ski; kayak; walk; swim; read; listen to and play music, and dance.
