Hilda was from the pioneer Quiroz Family of Tucson. Her father, Felix B. Quiroz was born on the Los Reales Ranch which bordered the Tohono O'Odam reservation. Her mother, Luz Figueroa, was raised in Calabasas, AZ and moved to Tucson at an early age. Hilda Alvarado is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sam Alvarado. She is survived by her 2 sons, Alfred J. Quiroz (Marcia), Wilfredo Q. Castao (Camilla), and her daughter, Mary E. Alvarado Grandchildren, Gil Castiano, Demian Quiroz, Jules Castao, James Quiroz, Angelique Alvarado and Matthew Alvarado Great-grandchildren, Niko Castiano, Adrea Castiano, Jason Quiroz, and Helena Quiroz and sister, Josephine Caballero of Tucson, AZ and many nieces and nephews. Hilda's family was the pioneer family of Quiroz. Those who knew her also recognized her as a "character" and a world traveler. She was a well-known downtown waitress at the Walgreens that was on Congress St., then the one at Stone and Pennington. She was very proud of her sons, Alfred, Professor of Art at the University of Arizona, and Wilfredo, Professor of Photography at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA and her Tohono O'Odam daughter, Mary. She enjoyed life to the fullest.
