IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicolas D.
Morelos
November 13, 1970 – July 18, 2016
Nicolas D. "Nick" Morelos, 45, was called home to God on Monday, July 18, 2016.
Affectionately known as "Corey" to family and childhood friends, he was beloved to so many. A handsome, intelligent, kind and loving man, Nick is survived by his son, Nicolas Jr., his parents Nicolas and Susan Morelos, two brothers John "Red" (Kim) Morelos and Jason Morelos, a sister Jesika Carrasco, his fiancé Kristy Trepanitis, and countless adored nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Nick proudly served 3.8 years (1989-1992) in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of E-4 Corporal, and served valiantly during the liberation of Kuwait during Gulf War I. He was honored with the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
He then went on to excel in his aviation career of 25+ years, earning his Airframe and PowerPlant License and working his way up to his recent promotion to the esteemed Director of Maintenance position at Marana Aerospace Solutions. Nick was known as a highly intelligent, hard-working man that never shied away from the challenges he faced and was often called upon to make the impossible happen.
Beyond all of his outstanding military and aviation career successes, however, what meant most to him was God, family, and friends. He enjoyed his church and reading the Bible, playfully teasing his son, nieces and nephews at family gatherings, fishing and hunting at the cabin, riding his Harley with friends, reading, spending time with his fiancé as they planned their amazing future together, and running with his dog Smokey.
Nick's heart and home was always open to a friend in need. He lived and celebrated his life with love, honor, generosity, and pride as a true Christian Warrior and he will be forever missed.
The memorial service will be held Friday, July 29th at 8:30am at Faith Community Church,
2551 W. Orange Grove, followed by the interment with military honors at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 15950 N. Luckett Road in Marana at 10:00am.
A reception will be held at the home of John and Kim Morelos at 9960 N. Hacienda Hermosa Dr. in Oro Valley from noon to 6pm.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent in honor of Nick Morelos to the Oro Valley American Legion Post 132, P.O. Box 69665, Oro Valley, AZ 85737. Nick would love to know your support provided for other soldiers and veterans.
