Luis L. Chavez "Parky" , 93 was born July 12, 1923 and passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017.
Parky was a resident of Tucson, AZ at the time of his passing. He was born in El Paso, TX. A veteran of WW II he served in the Army Air Corp. In 1947 Parky married Josephine Palomino "Josie" of Bisbee, AZ. Bisbee was where they made their home and raised four children. Work and family were Parky's priorities. He still worked into his early eighties. Parky was able to go on an Honor Flight to the WW II memorial in Washington D.C. He and his brother Ed were the first brothers to be honored together.
Parky was preceded in death by his wife, Josie; two grandchildren, Hector Del Campo and Cassandra Chavez; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his children, Luis "Louie" and Frank "Cougie" of Sierra Vista, Susie of Tucson and John "Baby" of Suffolk, V.A.; 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
His generation has been called "the greatest generation" because of their selfless hard work and sacrifice for family. That was Parky and he will be greatly missed. He left us on Easter Sunday, the day we remember the greatest of all sacrifices, cumulated in the greatest victory which provides us with hope for our eternal future.
