Librada N.de Higuera
Jan. 16, 1920 – Jan. 17, 2018
Our dearest mother passed away surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by parents Catalina and Santiago, husband Ramiro, grandsons Adrian and Baby Boy Gallego, and daughter-in-law Connie.
Survived by children Joaquin, Jesus (Lourdes), Margaret (Richard), Rosella (Bobby), Ramiro (Rosita), Maria (Dimitrios), Tony, Margarita (Albert) and Yolanda, 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
She was born in Tamazula, Durango, (Mexico). She eventually made her way to Tucson, where she raised a wonderful family and took on a new calling – a loving, caring, nurturing, supportive Mother and Wife. She loved to garden, and was once featured on the TV show "The Desert Speaks", profiling her master gardening skills and expertise in herbal medicine, and had samples of her plants studied by the U of A. Her knitting skills were impeccable – every new baby in the family received a warm cozy blanket, knitted by her gentle hands with love. These blankets serve as a symbolic, lasting memory of her. She loved to cook, and her kitchen was open to all-comers. Her home during Christmas was the place to be, where the entire family congregated and celebrated the wonderful joys of the holiday season. She will be remembered as a strong-willed woman that left an indelible imprint on the lives of everyone she touched, and her wisdom will continue to guide our lives, until we all meet again.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Jacobs YMCA, 1010 W Lind St. after the Interment at Holy Hope Cemetery.
